Oh Valentine’s Day! The made-up Hallmark holiday that sends everyone everywhere scrambling for chocolates, conversation hearts, stuffed animals and anything red or pink! (and wine, too)
My husband and I are pretty cliché in the “love each other every day, not just Valentine’s Day” respect. When we first started dating, I suggested we make a pact to spend only $1 per month that we had been dating. It turned into a really fun game! True story: the second Valentine’s day that we did this, I found him these automatic salt and pepper shakers at the thrift store. They were brand new in the box, and cost me like $5. I still had enough to buy him a bottle of wine! Anyway, we laughed about them, but then we started using them and fell in love with them! Years later now, we still have these salt and pepper shakers, and we use them every.single.day. It’s so funny what traditions can turn into and bring into your life!
I’m thankful that we had this little tradition for so long. It kept the pressure off, and even though we don’t do it any more (all these years together, those dollas add up and it wasn’t as fun as our little frugal Valentine’s Days were!) I still love reminiscing about it!
Our new tradition has been to get lobsters, and cook together at home. We do this twice a year. Once on Valentine’s Day, and once on our anniversary. We get dressed up, have this beautiful meal in our home, and just enjoy each other’s company. We maybe get a little something for each other, but because we’ve never focused a ton on actual gifts for Valentine’s Day, it truly is all about the love for us!
When JORD asked if I wanted to collaborate on a blog post, I jumped at the chance to review one of their beautiful watches, thinking that this would be a perfect Valentine’s Day gift for my hubby! It’s so unique, and unlike anything any other guy would have.
Their watches come in gorgeous wooden boxes, which are just beautiful. I chose the Fieldcrest Zebra Wood & Maple watch for my husband, and it’s even more lovely than I had imagined! (also if you’re wondering, this wood background is our kitchen table, which is made out of sheesham wood!)
He was super thrilled to get it, and it looks amazing on him!
My husband is super outdoorsy, and so this is riiiiiight up his alley 🙂
The watch is even more beautiful in person, and has such a gorgeous, rustic look and feel to it, while also being substantial and durable despite its medium.
I mean, look at this dude at at the cabin last weekend chopping all the wood, with his wood watch on?! (how much wood can a wood-watch-wearer chop if he had his wooden wood watch on?! lol)
Also wow, our tank is a huge photobombing eyesore!! Luckily our cabin is in the middle of nowhere and there’s no one else to see that ugly thing there haha!
