This is the one baby product you probably never knew you needed…but you’ll know now, and OogieBear is giving one away for this week’s giveaway!! (enter at the bottom of the post)
Babies (or at least mine), have the craziest boogers. When my daughter was a week old, I pulled a booger out of her nose that I swear was 2 inches long. How in the world did she 1) produce that, and 2) breath with it in there!!!!! Don’t judge…but before the OogieBear I would try to VERY CAREFULLY pull these long boogers out with tweezers. Such a bad idea, but I couldn’t get them otherwise! Clearly, I’m really lucky to have found a safe alternative. But literally, there is nothing else out there that gets the larger, dried up boogies!
I bought myself the OogieBear on a whim at Buy Buy Baby when my daughter was a couple months old. I’m not sure what drew me to it, but it’s right by the checkout, and there were a few people ahead of me, so of course I was investigating all the impulse buys in the bins there. I’m SO glad I bought this–it’s seriously been one of the best things I’ve bought, and I’ve bought a few of them for friends with babies, or as baby shower gifts.
The OogieBear is a booger-defeater and an ear-wax-conquerer; it’s a little rubber-coated blue tool with two little rubber hooks on either end. One of the hooks is a little loop, which is great for removing sticky mucus, and the other is a scoop for dried mucus. You can safely use it to grab mucus/wax in baby’s nose or ear! (Yes, I do use it for both!!!) The Oogie was designed by a doctor, and is constructed so that it can’t be inserted too deep into your baby’s nose or ear, so don’t worry about hurting your little one. Be gentle, obviously, but just know you can’t go too deep because the little bear’s ears will prevent that from happening!
A few tips for use:
- Bring a head holder. I started using this on my daughter when she was a couple months old. She’s now 10 months, but she still doesn’t really “sit there and take it” like I wish she would. Usually I need my husband to hold her head while I “Oogie” her.
- Keep a tissue handy while you use it. You’ll pull out the booger, and then need the tissue to wipe the scoop off and go back in if you need to.
- Clean it right away. No one needs to tell you how baby boogers dry up like cement if they’re stick…same with baby ear wax….so wash it off right after you’re done!
- Be calm when you’re using it. Babies don’t like anything strange inserted anywhere, so they’ll probably freak out the first time.
Above: You can see that the Oogie isn’t super long! The rubber coated ends are soft and bendable; nothing sharp or pointy in your baby’s nostrils or ears! We ended up buying three of them about a week after I realized how amazing they are….one for the “baby first aid” cabinet, one for my diaper bag, and another for the cabin.
Below: Excuse the cat…he’s a camera hog! I got some clear snot on the loop here, if you can see that!

YES! Ok, those DO NOT work for me. I never got anything out! My booger combat move is the Nose Frida for the stuffy liquid stuff, and this for anything that I can pull out. Works like a charm! hehe

I know right?! I never really even considered baby boogers until I got her home, pulled this 2 inch booger out and was like hmmm……what is this?!?!
Ianthe says
I don’t even know what to say about this little item, except that I so need this in my life! My baby boy has such little nostrils that we use cotton ear swabs to try to get the boogers out.
I’m going to pick one of these up to be ready for the next time he has a cold. Thanks for sharing the news of this interesting item.
Meredith says
It is seriously amazing!! Buy Buy Baby has them for $9.99 right at the checkout spot! My first thought was that it was super expensive for what it was…but after buying now three of them and using them the last 7 months, they’re worth every penny and then some!!
Kate says
Oh wow that’s an amazing tool to have!
Meredith says
Yes, it’s so awesome!!
Jessica says
I definitely need that in my life for my kids. This sounds like an amazing product and easier to use than other things for ear wax and boogers. You are right that this something you never knew you needed.
Meredith says
Thanks for the sweet comment! My daughter still doesn’t sit still and enjoy it, but seriously it makes life so much better!
Jessi says
I need to get one for my boy. He hates the sucker thing.
Meredith says
Oh yeah seriously I feel like those bulbs DON’T work! Unless you mean the nose frida–that’s also one of my favs, but she hates that too haha!
Belle says
This is awesome! How come I didn’t know about this when my kids were babies? Where was this when I needed this? Lol!

I WISH they had this around when my three girls were babies. That bulb/syringe thingie is horrible! The sound, the aftermath and gunk left inside of it…ewww. Will keep in mind for upcoming baby shower gift ideas!
Meredith says
Isn’t it awful!? The bulb has never worked for me!!
Tiffany | ShortSweetMom says
Wow, they really have thought of everything! This I have never heard of this but I can see how it would be extremely handy! Cleaning my munchkins nose and ears is almost impossible. This would make it much easier.
Meredith says
It is so so helpful! She’s still not super fond of it going in her nose (ear she doesn’t care about), but it really gets the job done safely!!!
Tennille says
um….WOW this is amazing. I really needed this a few years ago. The perfect gift for Mum’s to be. Those boogers can be stubborn.
Meredith says
It seriously is INCREDIBLE! I’m so glad I randomly found it, because it’s been a godsend! And yes those boogers are SO stubborn! How do babies even make those things?! They can get huge!!!
Risa Kerslake says
Oh my gosh, I don’t really have a funny boogie story so much as my daughter HATES when I have to use the Nose Frida or pick out a little booger. Oy. Not cool. But I love the idea of this little tool and would love to win one!
